WashU Cares does not grant reduced course load for students. However, we are often involved in assisting students to begin the process.

It is not uncommon for a health issue to impact a student’s ability to be in full time status. In the case that a student’s disability or diagnosis impacts the student’s ability to be in school full time, they can apply for a  reduced course load through the Disability Resources accommodation application process.

Full time status is considered:

For undergraduate students: 12 credit hours

For graduate students: 9 credit hours

International students

In addition to the information above, please be aware your visa status requires specific documentation.

In order to be a part-time student, you must apply using the reduced course load (RCL) form (RCL) from the Office of International Students & Scholars. Your academic advisor completes the RCL form and then you must apply at OISS by dropping off the completed form during the first two weeks of the semester.
